Gavin

I snapped these pictures with my cell phone so they are not very good

So, I took Gavin to the doctor for his yearly checkup, and the doctor heard a heart murmer that he's never noticed before. So, he sent us to hospital to have some tests done. He got chest X-rays and an EKG. He was so good! Most kids would have been terrified to have all of those wires hooked up to them but he wasn't. He sat there with a big smile on his face the whole time. Then when I had to leave the room while he got his x-rays done, he listened to the radiologest and did everything they told him to do without complaining at all. I was amazed at how well he did. The test results came back abnormal and showed that he does have a murmer, but the doctor is hoping that it will correct itself within the next few years. If it doesn't by the time he turns five, they will run some more tests and see how things look at that point.

Dallas Coyote Hunting

The joys of little Boys

So, we've been working on the potty training thing for quite some time now, and Gavin is doing really well. He still has some accidents, but he's in undewear which is a huge victory. Anyway, the kids were outside playing the other day, when Mackenzie came in and told me that Gavin had pooped and peed outside. I was not very happy about him having another accident so I told her to go back out and tell him to come in so I could clean him up. A few minutes later, he came walking in, buck naked, with all of his clothes in his hands. I should also add that it was not a warm day. It was very cold outside. So, I got him into the bathroom and started looking. All of his clothes were clean and dry. I said "you didn't pee in your pants, they are dry." Well, come to find out, He had pooped and peed outside, but not in his pants. He had taken off all of his clothes and found a nice spot on the cement, right in front of the playhouse, and went to the bathroom right there. He's definately a boy. Mackenzie would never even dream of doing that. Even when we go fishing or hiking, It doesn't matter how bad she needs to go, she will hold it until we get home. It must be a boy thing. He was so proud of himself!! I guess I should just be happy that it wasn't in his underewear. No matter how much my kids drive me crazy, they make me laugh every day. My life would be very boring if it weren't for them.

Gavin's "Big Boy Bed"

Gavin has been sleeping in a toddler bed, and we decided that it was time to bet him a "big Boy Bed." We ordered the bed online and I didn't realize just how big (tall) it was. I have been really nervous about him falling out and getting hurt on the hardwood floors but he's been just fine. He uses a little chair to climb into bed and picks a whole bunch of toys and books to sleep with every night. He's growing up so fast. The good thing about that is that he's finally potty-trained!! Yeah!! We still put a pull- up on him at night (just to be safe). It has taken me six months of battles to get to this point. (And to think that Mackenzie was potty-trained in less than a week!)

Birthday Boy!!

Gavin had such a great day!! He knew that his special day and he loved every minute of it. He picked a cake with a tractor and a deer on it. He wanted tools for his birthday, so thats what he got-tools and a remote-controlled dinosaur. When Dallas got home from work, we went out to dinner, came home and had cake and ice cream, then we went to see the movie "Nim's Island." Gavin picked the movie. I wasn't sure it was one that he would like but he did! Happy Birthday Gavin! We love you!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Gavin!!
